Department store uses volunteers to help out during sale

Finnish department store Stockmann has been criticised by the Service Union United (PAM) on its plans to use volunteers to help out in its Tampere store during its bi-annual Crazy Days sales in late March.

News outlet YLE reported that “Stockmann responded by saying that the volunteers only provide help with some tasks, like unpacking boxes – and do not sell products”.

Stockmann has experienced falling profitability in recent years and is planning four store closures.
